March 6, 2011 will go down in history as the day I baked my first pie.
From scratch. None of this sissy pre-made crust or filling-in-a-can stuff. I'm talkin' apple-slicin', sugar-moundin, butter-poundin', crust-chillin', pre-baked snackin' goodness. My mom helped, of course. It
was my first time.
It was delicious. The crust was my favorite. I'm sure the butter-flavored shortening had something to do with that. Next time, I'm going to do a crust with all butter. I loved how it looked too, kind of rustic and imperfect. Quite vintage actually. I snapped a few photos on my mom's spanky new phone.
So here's to becoming known for my pie skills. It's going to be a tasty, tasty ride.
