Giveaway at Domestic Diva

Domestic Diva is giving away a Silhouette machine. I really, really want it and I didn't really want to tell you all about it, but I have to in order to get another entry. That's selfish, huh? Maybe if you won, you could share it with me? I'd share with you...even though I didn't want to tell you about the giveaway...

Pocket Post

Dear Man vs. Wild,
I've written you before and told you not to be so weird. But last night I saw you put on a dead seal's skin for a shirt and I'm thinking my messages just aren't getting through to you. Let's work on that, shall we?

Dear General Consumer,
I'm thinking a really good purchase for you (and I'm really only thinking of you), would be to buy me this wonderful machine. Let's think of it as an investment. A really, really cute investment.

Dear Tron,
You know that scene at the very beginning when the programs are on the bikes and they can't cross the path of the other bikes or else they will die? That was SO exciting!

Dear $195,000 River-front Property in Logan,
I wish (and so does Tom) that we could buy you, subdivide you, build our dream house, and fish all day on you. Maybe a little discount would help? Or another plea to the general consumer perhaps?

Love,
Megan

Irrational Fears

Kay, my new friend Leslie is the coolest. She is an amazing illustrator, really cute, funny, and is dating my friend Brandon (who is also wicked cool, so that works for them). She has taken her illustrative genius to an all new level though with this blog called Irrational Fears. Seriously, I can't handle how fun it is! I can't think of any irrational fears that I have right now, but I'm thinking about getting one so she can illustrate it for me.

#6 - Memorize a poem

It's between these three. The Jabberwocky. Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening. Or Evensong.

Any other suggestions? Poems that I shouldn't turn 30 without memorizing?

I have two other poems memorized.

Indian Summer by Dorothy Parker
In youth, it was the way I had
To do my best to please.
And change with every passing lad,
To suit his theories.
But now I know the things I know,
And do the things I do.
And if you do not like me so,
To hell, my love, with you.

(I memorized this in high school when I chose Dorothy Parker for my poet report...actually I wanted Ogden Nash, but Mike Sorenson picked him first! Ha, ha, ha - do you remember that Mike? That was a funny class. Anway, I was happy with my choice and was so pleased with the feminist theme of the poem.)

The Worm by Ralph Bergengren
When the earth has turned to spring,
The worms are fat as anything.
And birds come flying all around,
To eat the worms right off the ground.
They like worms just as much as I,
Like bread, and milk, and apple pie.
And once, when I was very young,
I put a worm right on my tongue.
I didn't like the taste a bit,
Of course I didn't swallow it!
But oh, it makes my Mother squirm,
Because she thinks I ate that worm!

(I memorized this when I was really little. My mom taught it to me and it's stuck ever since.)

30x30

My friend Shannon started a list of 30 things she wanted to do before she turned 30 and I loved the idea, so here I go. In no particular order.

1. Make an entire wedding out of paper flowers.
2. Become a mother.
3. Learn song by "The Swell Season" on the guitar. And sing it in front of at least 5 people.
4. Learn "Nunley's Carousel" by Billy Joel on the piano.
5. Catch a fish by myself.
6. Memorize a poem.
7. Listen to the "Lord of the Rings" on Audio CD.
8. Hike King's Peak. Or just go on a hike.
9. Read a book by Charles Dickens.
10. Paint a picture.
11. Do something with my washer collection.
12. Sew a shirt or skirt.
13. Make lots of pies, until I find the very best recipe. Become known for my pie-making skills.
14. Cook one dish out of every recipe book I own (got this idea from Katie).
15. Have a party. A sit-down dinner party.
16. Knit a scarf.
17. Go camping with Tom 7 times.
18. Go on a trip to a place I've never been. Can be just a little trip.
19. Design something using "Sketch-Up".
20. Get sucked into a made-for-TV drama. (I have to have something to check off, right?)
21. Attend the temple at least 12 times.
22. Make a garland.
23. Serve at the church bakery or cannery or other assignment.
24. Go see the daffodils at Red Butte Gardens.
25. Write at least 10 letters to people, instead of an email or phone call.
26. Take some family photographs.
27. Write down 10 childhood memories in my journal.
28. Plant a garden and bottle some of it.
29. Make rock candy.
30. Go to Antelope Island and/or Spiral Jetty.

Do boys read this blog?

If yes, you should order flowers from www.persimmonfloral.info - cause your lady friend will dig you and probably give you a kiss for it.

If no, all you girls out there, your man may need a hint. So tell him to go to www.persimmonfloral.info to get you some fresh flowers. Tell him you'll give him a kiss if he does.
